Your app wants to know, are you really who you say you are? Pretty straightforward, right? Don't mix up authentication with authorization, though. Authentication is about identity.
Authorization is about access. Who you are versus what you're allowed to do. NuxtAuthUtils is only about the former. utils.
It's a small library of 105 kilobytes, created and maintained by Sebastian Chopin, one of the co-creators of Nuxt, and it has a wealth of great features, including hybrid rendering support, so that you can do this on both the client side and the server side, or even in some pre-rendered pages. It works with over 15 OAuth providers, meaning users can log in with their favorite sites, such as GitHub or Google or Facebook. There's a handy view composable for accessing user and session data, as well as a variety of server utils to help you manage sessions and users on the server side. And this is really just to name a few of the most exciting features.
There are others as well, and we'll explore them more throughout this course. What about other solutions that you might have heard of, though, such as the Nux SuperBase module? Indeed, it has support for authentication, but really only works if you've bought into SuperBase. There's also the SideBase Nux module.
It does have some very robust features, but isn't officially maintained or as easy to set up as Nuxt Auth Utils. Finally, there is BetterAuth, which is the new kid on the block. It also has some really great features. but really might be more than you're looking for compared to the amount of time you're willing to spend setting things up.
